 YDRA

Hydra is an island in the Saronic Gulf. With what name reportedly the capital and port of the island which is homonymous municipality, which numbered 2,719 inhabitants in the 2001 census, who this barren, engaged mainly in fishing and tourism. It is extremely picturesque and cosmopolitan island mansion.

 Especially popular destination for foreign tourists and Athenians, given the relatively short distance from the capital. It owes its name to the abundant water, gushing from the springs had in antiquity.

 She has significant maritime history and tradition. Restored mansions, the old picturesque port with its battlements and cannons, museums, monasteries, the naval academy, make up the image of the island, which is evidenced by the significant historical importance.

The town of Hydra, which is the only town of the island has been declared a preserved and the movement with cars, is spread over two rocky hills and is full of traditional houses with tiled roofs, heavy blue doors and windows. Hydra decades, is one of the favorite destinations of Greek and foreign episkepton.Sto island there are 300 churches and five monasteries. The most important celebration today in Hydra are Miaoulia which are three-day event dedicated to the action of Admiral Miaoyli and every year towards the end of June that are part of Naval week.

Hydra, more than all the Greek islands, inspired the Fine Arts. Famous Greek and foreign painters exhibited landscapes. Great artists such as Pablo Picasso and Marc Chagall visited her and embossing designs strictly shape. It is no coincidence that Hydra's division of the School of Fine Arts from 1936 housed in the four-storey mansion Tompazi (west port)

V. MORTENSEN-K.DUNST AT ACROPOLIS FILMING

  

   Acropolis and Plaka - Monastiraki traditional neighborhoods in Athens are the scenery of this week filming for the new movie of Viggo Mortensen and Kirsten Dunst .

As you can see from the last backstage pictures ,the two famous actors  wearing costumes from the decade of 1960 enjoy sunshine  during the  shooting breaks .

According to Greek newspapers , Kirsten Dunst was fascinated by the wonderful climate in Athens.

"The Two Faces of January  is based on Patricia Highsmith's novel and will  premiere in theaters in 2013.

A NEW INTERNATIONAL MOVIE FILMED IN GREECE

     The famous Greek director of "El Greco",Iannis Smaragdis, presents his new big international movie "God Loves Caviar".

This majestic epic tells the true-life,  of eighteenth-century Greek pirate turned merchant Ioannis Varvakis, who rose from humble beginnings to become the head of one of the largest mercantile empires in Europe. 

     Principal Cast: Sebastian Koch, Catherine Deneuve, Evgeny Stychkin, Juan Diego Botto, Olga Sutulova, Lakis Lazopoulos, John Cleese. The Greek director  has previously chronicled also the live of the renowned poet Cavafy.

"DEMI MOORE IN MYCONOS"

    
 According to " Espresso " newspaper, the American star is incognito in Myconos   with 5 friends of her.

    Last Friday  Demi Moore had been enjoying  her dinner at one of the most "in" spots of the island, at "Kiku" restaurant. The owner said to the newspaper that  the Hollywood actress was very beautiful,she had shushi dishes .

The newspaper refers also that, Demi Moore talking with people in the island, declared enthousiastic over her visit in Myconos .

RED HOT CHILI PEPERS IN ATHENS

     

     They were great ! "Red hot chili peppers"  had rocked Athens in a fantastic concert at the OAKA stadium of the town ,last Tuesday. 

Fans of the group enjoyed rhythm ,excellent sound , and all the amazing success songs of the eternal child of rock from California .

"Red hot chili peppers"  declared very happy being in Athens .During the concert they had waved a Greek flag and sent an optimistic message to the Greek people saying : "we've heard a lot about the situation here but we saw that Greeks are  nice people that welcome us warmly ".

According to "Eleftheria "local newspaper which 

published them ,security guards were around the 

area and kept it blocked from people trying to 

take photos of Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy ,

during filming. After shooting,Ethan Hawke has 

signed autographs for his fans .

  Another newspaper ,"Proto Thema"has 

published  pictures of the  famous actor with her 

wife, Ryan Shawhughes,  and his children with 

Uma Thurman ,enjoying their family vacation in 

the region.

He was very friendly with people there and he 

didn't deny to be photographed with them.The  

pictures were shot in Voidokilia beach side ,one 

of the most beautiful of southern Peloponese.
