The Ionian Sea is known for its beautiful beaches and Kefalonia is no exception. Its beaches are famous for their clear waters, the most famous of all Myrtos fairly declared as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Antisamos Blue Flag awarded pebble beach is a few kilometers from the port of Sami ,opposite of the Ithaki island.It acquired additional glamor and publicity due to the production of Hollywood "The Captain Corelli's Mandolin" starring Nicolas Cage, Penelope Cruz, Christian Bale and John Hurt, which was filmed in 2000 on the island.
Within walking distance from the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli, is the beach Makris Gialo,ssandy, no rocks or pebbles and crystal clear waters.
