The island is ideal for holidays and exploring also during the winter season. The olive harvesting period is significant cultural event and brings inhabitants and tourists close to nature. 
Even the most remote mountain, the roads are full of life and in the cafes and taverns ouzo and wine "flowing" in the glasses and delicacies are served.
It's also the best time for baths in the hot springs of Lesvos.
Nature exploring lovers can participate to organised walking, biking and jeep excursions in the forest or horse riding. The sea brings out the most beautiful stones and shells after winter storms. Many tourists enrich their leisure time with cooking lessons in female agri-touristic cooperatives.
