NISYROS, THE VOLCANO ISLAND

Nisyros (Dodecanese island complex)is he fianal ecological spot.The whole island is a volcanic edifice. It is believed to have been created 45,000 years ago. In the valley there are five pit shaped craters called Stephen, Alexander, Polyvotis ,Logothetis and Achilles. The most impressive crater is  Stephen with 260m. diameter and 30m. depth.Countless color combinations of volcanic rocks adorn the area.Vapors from fumaroles whiz in absolute silence.As it is a volcanic island ,it has rich vegetation and a really magical sea bottom.It has picturesque houses ,full of flowers yards and wonderful beachsides.This small island offers an ideal escape from noisy city and can be certainly be discribed as one of the remaining green havens.
